Notes of a Defeatist

This just in: thin ice is thin.

After passing a sign for the boat launch and pier off Durham Drive, on Big Muskego Lake, the driver of the WDJT-TV (Channel 58—Milwaukee’s fourth rate news station) had taken the truck about 150 yards onto an ice- and snow-covered channel leading to the lake. They were hoping to shoot footage for a segment about snowmobile safety on ice.

The ice, get this—suddenly gave way.

She escaped unharmed, but the van sank in the 5-foot channel ruining about $250,000 worth of equipment.
